Hi there, I’m Vik—a technology enthusiast. I love my family, infrastructure, crypto, and cars. Please don’t hold it against me, but I’m also a lawyer.
Just over 17 years ago, I bought a tiny company named Future Hosting. Over the following few years, with the help of my team, friends, family, mentors, and, notably, our customers, we grew the business to a few million in revenue.
We sold Future Hosting to Nexcess, and over the following years, I gained incredible lifelong friends at Nexcess as the COO. I woke up every morning looking forward to what I was about to do. No day was the same, and no challenge was the same.
We worked hard. We played hard. We had fun. We saw marriages, kids, crypto, and travels. We always kept the community at the forefront of our decisions – be it the business community that was our customers or our local community and charitable causes (e.g., one of my favorites National Pediatric Cancer Foundation). In July 2019, we sold Nexcess to Liquid Web, made new friends, and continued to grow the business. In 2021, I left Liquid Web to take some time off and help others build their businesses.
These days I spend some time helping non-profits and fellow entrepreneurs with legal questions who otherwise couldn’t afford legal advice.
I spend more time assisting Pressable. My goal for Pressable is to radically differ from other hosting companies by being radically customer-centric. When we make decisions, we ask ourselves several questions. Some include:
- Will this improve the customer experience?
- Will this decision make our customers’ lives easier?
- Will this decision allow our customers to focus on their businesses?
If the answer is no, it’s the wrong decision. When the customer is first, everything else falls into place.
I am having a blast with an incredible team surrounding me. The team today operates like a small startup within the larger Automattic ecosystem. Our team is hungry and passionate and I can hardly wait to show you what we have in store in the coming year.
Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.
